Smooth sailing

After a rather shocking 5:00am wake up, we had a very smooth day of travel. We connected through Atlanta and after a nine and a half hour flight, we arrived in Rome.

After a brief nap, we rallied and made a late afternoon foray out to Trevi Fountain. It felt good to stretch our legs and get oriented to the city. Tomorrow, we start our touring in earnest, but for today we kept it low key. After a nice stroll, we came back and cleaned up, had happy hour here at the hotel then headed off to dinner.

As it turns out, what we thought was an 8:30pm dinner reservation at Roscioli Salumeria salumeriarosicoli.com was actually a 9:30pm reservation. Happily for us, we caught a quick drink and some antipasti at their sister restaurant, Rimessa, which was just a few blocks away. When 9:30 finally rolled around we went back to Rosciolo and had an absolutely fantastic meal of fried oxtail and zucchini blossoms, artichoke salad and pasta carbonara accompanied by a lovely local red wine. If I wasn’t so jet lagged, I’d have a little more detail to add. Hopefully after a good night’s sleep we’ll be in better form tomorrow! Ciao
